Let’s Begin Together

Advice abounds on the world wide web, as one of my teenagers jokingly calls it. No matter where a person turns, words are constantly leaping off pages to tell the reader how to solve a problem, interact with a person, attend this event, or vote this way. I feel this is the reason I struggle to write articles for blogs and other social media outlets. Why do I need to share my thoughts on these world wide web pages? So many other people are. I would be happy to share a list of all the people I find so completely profound. I’m guessing you could find their words helpful. And so, I ask myself the question: Are my words really going to contribute in a meaningful way? My truth: I desperately hope so.

Over a year ago I started social media content with my kids, a segment I affectionately called, Table Talk with Teens. I wanted to take the opportunity to invite teenagers to the table. Where I could learn from them and them from me. The segments were short and insightful. My teens offered their opinions and insights. Gathering them for these segments proved harder than I anticipated. Teens are busy people and so am I.

And yet, here I am. Intentionally typing words onto my computer so I can share them with you.  Once again bucking my fear of how there is advice all over the world wide web and making the time to contribute to the blogs and social media accounts.

True that my page shares that I’m an organizational culture consultant. I can help you with your workplace or organization’s culture, leadership development, how to grow as a learner, what it looks like to work through tough conversations, conflict management, and overall communicate in a more effective manner.

I am also deeply involved in my community, consistently looking for ways to engage and connect. And the piece in my life that I care most deeply about, the piece that when I learn something new—I think “how can I apply it here, in this space I hold dear?”—is my family, my home, my role and relationship as wife and mother.

All of this to say that on this page, yes…I will be sharing insights, how-to’s, tips, methods to develop yourself as a more effective communicator, leader, culture creator, conflict navigator, and learner.

AND I will be sharing (1) how I connect with my community and insights into how to incorporate that into your life. (2) What it looks like to be a learner at any age.
